Ground Coffee | The coffee is very watery while using ground coffee. What are we doing wrong?
A watery result is usually a sign of under-extraction. Common reasons include:
The grind is too coarse.
Too little ground coffee is used.
The coffee is not fresh enough.
Try using espresso-fine, freshly roasted grounds in the proper dose, and ensure the filter basket and portafilter are correctly installed.
Ground Coffee | What grounds do you recommend to get a cup of great espresso?
A grind that is too coarse will cause the water to flow through too quickly, resulting in weak body and little crema. Too fine, on the other hand, may choke the machine and lead to bitterness.
For a great cup of coffee, we recommend using our OutIn Fino grinder for freshly ground coffee. We recommend the following ranges:
- Light to medium roast: grind size 1.2 – 2
- Medium roast: grind size 2
- Medium to dark roast: grind size 2 – 2.1
If you are unsure which grind size works best for your coffee, start with click 2. We recommend using 10g of ground coffee. to start with.Different roast levels, freshness, and coffee bean varieties may require slight adjustments. The ranges above are for reference only. Please use our recommendations as a guideline. Always adjust to the actual condition of your coffee.
Pods Coffee | Is this compatible with pods other than Nespresso pods?
Yes. OutIn Mino works with both ground coffee and Original Line capsules (e.g., Nespresso, L’OR, Jacobs, Lavazza, Kimbo, Café Royal, etc.). When using a capsule, insert it into the adapter first, then place the adapter into the portafilter and screw it onto Mino tightly for a proper extraction.
Pods Coffee | Do you have to put holes in the Nespresso pods?
No. Simply insert each capsule into the adapter manually — this action pierces the bottom of the pod inside the adapter. Very easy to use, and fully compatible with Nespresso Original Line capsules.
Ground Coffee | How to tamp ground coffee?
First, remove the dosing funnel from the filter basket.Second, fold the spoon and use it as a tamper to press the ground coffee gently.
Ground Coffee | Why does my OutIn Mino leak water out of portafilter or fail to extract properly?
This issue usually occurs when the grind size is too fine or excessive dosage. Overly fine or too muchgrounds will cause excessive pressure build up inside the basket, which may lead to water leakage around the portafilter or trigger the machine’s automatic power-off protection. We recommend the following ranges:
- Light to medium roast: grind size 1.2 – 2
- Medium roast: grind size 2
- Medium to dark roast: grind size 2 – 2.1
If you are unsure which grind size works best for your coffee, start with 2. We recommend using 10g of ground coffee to start with.Different roast levels, freshness, and coffee bean varieties may require slight adjustments. The ranges above are for reference only.
